The Pillars of Sabah 2.0 Series
Alvin Chung’s Orangutan Pocket Tee (Unisex Size)

Celebrate Malaysia’s nature with this limited edition Orangutan pocket tee featuring the design from Alvin Chung, a Sabahan artist who painted a mural illustrating orangutans for the Pillars of Sabah 2.0 project. The mural on the pillar features Bornean orangutans in a colourful forest. On the first side of the pillar, it shows that an orangutan is trying to reach out for the tree, signifying deforestation due to illegal human activities, causing orangutans to lose their habitat and putting these primate in potential threat. Another side is about two orangutans trying to hide in a bush to protect themselves from poachers. The last side of the pillar is depicting an old orangutan.

The art on the pocket tee is a part of the first side of the pillar, showcasing an orangutan reaching out to a tree in capsule.

Asia’s only great ape, the orangutan, is found only on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. In Malaysia, orangutans are endangered due to forest conversion and fragmentation as well as forest fires. See more here.
