Earth Day 2025
Our Power, Our Planet
A Bright Choice for Malaysia 💡

Lighting accounts for around 13% of household energy use. Switching to energy-efficient lighting can cut that by up to 80%, according to the Energy Commission of Malaysia.
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are more energy-efficient and longer-lasting than compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) or incandescent bulbs — helping you save energy and money in the long run.
Watch Out For 'Phantom Load' 👻

Even when appliances are turned off, they can still consume power if left plugged in.
This hidden energy drain — known as phantom load — can make up to 5% of your electricity bill, and contributes to 1% of global CO₂ emissions annually, according to Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
Air-Conditioners: A Costly Comfort
🌴

Many Malaysians rely on air-conditioning to get through our hot nights, but that comfort comes at a cost. A single air-conditioning unit can consume around 1,100 watt-hours per hour.
Multiply that by 6 hours of average use per night, and you can imagine the environmental cost, especially in a country where most electricity is generated from coal and gas.
